Tell out, my soul, how great the Lord

Tell out, my soul, how great the Lord,
In God, who saves, rejoice!
Upon his lowly servant here
Has come his tender choice.

From this day forth for evermore
All ages blest me call,
How wondrously he deals with me -
Almighty Lord of all!

Holy his name; his mercy sure;
To all who fear his name
The deeds of his strong arm have shown
His might, his power, his fame.

The proud in heart and mind he routs,
And monarchs from their thrones.
The humble have been lifted high,
The hungry filled at once.

The rich in emptiness he sent
Unsatisfied away;
But he has stood at Israel's side
Since our first parents' day.

His promises throughout all time
Were to our forebears made,
His mercy shown to Abraham,
Aye for his children's aid.
